POSITIVE IMPACT PREPARES FOR SECOND SEASON OF BIG3 BASKETBALL
CRANBURY, NJ (April 11, 2018) – Positive Impact Sports and Entertainment is preparing for a second season of BIG3 basketball. While the inaugural season exceeded the expectations of basketball fans worldwide, the second season promises to bring more excitement and competition. The 3-on-3 Professional basketball league, founded by rapper/actor Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz, is set for a June 22 start date for their highly anticipated second season. The league will feature additional former NBA talent for season two, including Amar’e Stoudemire, Drew Gooden, Carlos Boozer, Nate Robinson, Baron Davis, Metta World Peace (will play as Ron Artest), and Glen “Big Baby” Davis.
Positive Impact was retained by BIG3 in 2017 to assist with the production of their basketball games, handling everything from venue operations, game production, game operations, and liaising with FOX Sports.
“We’re thrilled and grateful that BIG3 has asked us to assist them again this year. Our professionals provided game management for the Inaugural Season of this exciting League through guidance and staffing with game operations, sponsor activation, coordination with broadcast partner FOX Sports, working with game officials and players, programming in-venue video entertainment, and developing and administering the Run of Schedule for each of the four games played in each City. We look forward to the increased challenges of helping produce this season’s LIVE broadcasts for each and every game” said Michael Rowe, President of Positive Impact.
The BIG3’s ten-week season will tip off in Houston, TX, and will visit Chicago, Oakland, Detroit, Miami, Toronto, Boston, Atlanta, with Dallas hosting the playoffs, and the Championship Game taking place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. All stops will feature four back-to-back games and will take place on Friday evenings this season. BIG3 games will be broadcast live on FOX Broadcast Network and FS1 all season long.
Founded by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, the new 3-on-3 basketball league features half court action and a new 4-point shot. All 8 teams in the league travel over the course of the season with each team consisting of three starters, three bench players and one reserve player. Halftime occurs when the first team reaches 25 points and the winner is decided when the first team reaches 50 points but must win by two. BIG3 has brought back the half court, pickup game style of basketball that many have played at some point, but features players and coaches that basketball fans can once again see play.
